Emotional regulation at home

Home should be the safest place to fall apart.

Children spend enormous energy regulating themselves throughout the day. Home is often where the nervous system finally lets go. This doesn't mean home is causing the problem — it often means home feels safe enough for the child to stop masking.

The goal isn't to prevent every meltdown. It is to help recovery happen with safety, connection and dignity.
